Indestructible
Released 17 February 1998.
Ten tracks: 6 written by Véro, and 4 written by Bernard Swell.
Produced by Hervé Le Duc.

INDESTRUCTIBLE:  Very catchy and powerful opening number. It's heavily produced, and has a definite 90s feel.  But put on the headphones, and I'm being brainstormed! Are there just too many tracks dubbed in there?  Talking about a complicated lady!  But, this is *brilliant* as a live song... and what a great chorus line... Aaaahhh!  Flash!

LES TYRANS:  Er, well.  Véro's been watching a bit too much Euronews I feel!  The melody is quite appealing, but the subject line is so sad - dictators and suffering... what a contrast after "Indestructible".   However, it's worst crime is that "noisy thing" that comes in the intro and before each verse... what's wrong with a real instrument I wonder (Mr Thornburg please!).  It could be such a nice tune... live?

UN AMOUR QUI M'IRAIT BIEN:  Beautiful, brilliant, and bouleversant!
I just *love* this!  Véro has really found her magic again, and it comes over so well as a studio track.  It's sung so wholeheartedly - and I adore the moment of "Plutôt me taire que de dire oui"... a magic moment - I'm lost in music!

HOTEL BIRON - CHAMBRE 22: Véro Rocks!! This is the perfect song to introduce a potential fan to Véro's music.  It's got punch and its sound is original and refreshing.  The lyrics and music sort of "take it in turns", and each has its proper place.  Most of all, this song's got a real punchy character.

HISTOIRE SANS INTERET:  Beautiful way to get absorbed again in the music.  Instantly appealing melody and the style of production fits it   perfectly.  She's very modest "banale comme cette chanson" - but it's not so at all, du tout!!

LES FIANCES:  Definitely one to listen to whether you're in a relationship or not!!  Now that might sound  a bit stupid, but it's the lyrics that really get your imagination  going.  It's not just with fiances, but with any love affair.   The tune itself is nice and catchy, and it's "sticky"!!  This  one fixes itself in my head - pleasantly!

UN ETRE IDEAL: I love the first two lines... exactly: where do we go from here? In fact the lyrics are very strong throughout, and the music is very powerful... especially live.  Actually this song really shines live.  The only drawback is on one of
those 24 tracks on the master tape... the synthesizer crops up  before each verse... you know, that sound that showed up  on "Les Tyrans"... a bit of brass would have been so much  better for me.

DANS LA MEME VILLE: This track is quite nice, but it somehow lacks just a bit of character.  The subject line is melanchonic, but I still can't let my mood get caught up in the song.  I'm a bit detached from what the lyrics are saying, but taken for its music, it's got a ring of quality. Very pleasant, and well delivered by Véro (of course!), and well produced.

J'AI L'HONNEUR D'ETRE UNE FILLE:  Véro is on true form here with
this beautiful track.  Some lovely words and a mellow melody.   Actually it's a very simple song, but distinct too - so very  easy to sing along to!   Recommended! P.S. J'ai l'honneur d'être un fan de Véro!

JE ME SUIS TELLEMENT MANQUEE: This one was written from the heart,   and it sure reaches your heart.  It's about how you can get caught
up in a rock lifestyle and go through life completely unaware.  Véro's piano comes back to the fore: simple and beautiful.   Surely this one is a future favourite at live shows.
