Laisse-la vivre
(Recorded May - July 1980, finished Jan - March 1981,
and produced by Bernard Swell.
Made in the USA (LA Pacific Studio/Memphis Ardent Studio), and in GB.
Released on 22nd April 1981)

Monsieur Dupont: A quality and very likeable opening track.  A nice and fast tempo, making it a good starting choice.

Doux dehors, fou dedans:  A lovely tune, and although quieter than the first track, the chorus really gets you singing to yourself!  The lyrics really get you thinking too - they are so true to life, to which anyone can  identify.

Je serai là:   Written for Véronique's good friend, Michel Berger who  wrote beforehand "Sera-tu là".  The song is pleasant enough, but Michel Berger's song is clearly superior.  It must be said though that  Véro's interpretation of his song is fantastic (Zenith '93 album).

Fais attention à mon amour:   A good easy going number with a nice beat.  Another song which is pleasant enough in itself, but which contains no memorable quality.

Laisse-la vivre:   Being the title track, it has to be special, and it  certainly is!  This is one you will remember, and all for the right reasons. It goes down as one of Véro's classics.

Santa Monica: "B" side to L'amour qui bat.  Worthy of being an "A" side too.   I find the verses being slightly stronger musically than the chorus, but it's all good!  This one would be a great track re-worked in a 90s studio.

L'amour qui bat: First single release.  A calmer tempo and with a strong orchestral feel to it.  I'm surprised this was released as a single, as it seems more suited to dedicated   Véronique Sanson fans rather than a general audience.

Les choses qu'on dit aux vieux amis:  Another song about the mystery of the darker side of human relationships.  It's always interesting to hear Véro's lyrics on this kind of subject.  The tune also has that interesting "demon" touch to it!

Jaime Magdaleno de Barcelona: A special number to churn up all of the emotion inside you.  A lovely way to say goodbye from this album, a beautiful song implying loss.  Short, but very sweet!
