Allah:
First single release (subsequently banned). Ok, so we won't talk
about the lyrics... they proved to be controversial. It
certainly was no publicity stunt - they certainly weren't meant to be.
On the musical side, it is one of Véronique's most up-to-date sounds
- one to turn up loud and lose yourself.

Un
peu d'air pur, et hop: Not commercially released as a
single, but there is a WEA promo (PRO326) of it. The backing
track has got that kind of "Police" sound to it, but the top
line is true VS! An easy going listen.

Marie:
"B" side to Paranoïa. I quite like this track, but
for me it takes too long to get going. OK, so it's a slow
starter, but it's still a very worthwhile track for the
second half. On the other hand, it's nice to have that contrast
in a song!

Radio
Vipère: This one get's moving from the beginning.
Nice and lively, catchy number. Good stuff, but I'd
say just an "album track".
|
Jet
Set: "B"
side to 'Un peu d'air pur, et hop'. Quiet number, but
very likeable. This a track where I find that the regular
saxophone touch fits in extremely well. The end was a bit sudden
but then ag.....!!!

Paranoïa:
Second single release. This is a great sound, and great for
those who like to show off their hifi performance! Another song
with a 90s sound (ahead of it's time) and some of the best lyrics Véronique
has ever written... I
love them, especially: "je crois que j'ai vraiment de la chance,
d'être toujours vivante".
|
Jette-le:
Wow! This could be my favourite Véronique track now, and
I don't really know why. At first it didn't really stand out,
but then it got noticed. It builds up to a brilliant guitar
sound. Try le!
|
Caméléon:
The strength of the album continues. Great sound, and
refreshingly different lyrics. The song has got variety, and
liveliness... but how do you change the colour of happiness?!
Listen!

Le
désir: "B" side to Allah. Memorable intro,
quiet, and then... it clicks into a nice rhythm. Quite a cool
track.
|
Mortelles
Pensées: Sounds like the turbulent love life continues!
But, there's nothing turbulent about the tune - another beautiful
ballad, and a typical Véronique way to close Moi le Venin. Just
Véro and her piano, here proving to be an elite combination.
|
There
was also a maxi-CD single released containing two versions of
"Allah": the one produced by Véro, and the one produced by
Michel Berger.
