Step One: Radiator & Mountings | ||
RKC4225BA | TR8 aluminium radiator (with sensor) | Factory TR8's used two different cooling system arrangements depending upon whether the car was equipped with air conditioning or not. The air conditioned cars used twin electric fans whilst the heater only cars used a viscous coupled fan attached to the crankshaft. Key mounting parts for either system are now in short supply. Replicas of the upper and lower mountings for heater cars are available, but they are of poor quality. It is possible to reuse the existing lower TR7 radiator bracket by fabricating the appropriate angle brackets to mount it to the frame rails. There are a range of TR8 radiators to choose from: Our top of the line offering is a custom built all aluminium unit that is an exact replica of the TR8 factory unit fitted to a/c cars. At the other end of the scale, we have found that it is possible to modify a TR7 radiator (right hand header tank models) by having a radiator shop install larger upper & lower hose outlets. |
